Hour 10, 11, 12 and 13 of 30.

For these past four hours, I have been working on my database - the database structure and providing evidence of it, the validation rule and testing it, and finally, on hour 12, I managed to start the queries for my reports. On Hour 13, my test buddy has pointed out that one of my queries contains wrong criteria, therefore I have listened to my test buddy, and corrected my mistake (and as well as that, created evidence for this). By the next lesson, I am hoping to finish producing the evidence for my queries and start my reports, hopefully even finish them, if I am lucky enough. Also, out of the lesson time, I managed to finish my spreadsheet analysis (mainly my graphs) so now all I need to worry about it. . . DATABASE REPORTS! >.<

Hour 9 or 30.

Today I have created my database and imported the data from the text file I aquired from Edexcel website. I have changed the name of the Fields and have also validated the Target Audience field, so that I won't be able to change any data. If you don't believe me, don't worry - I have hardcore evidence. Anyway, I'm working on my spreadsheet at home so hopefully I'll have it done by Monday (if I'll feel better.) ^.^

Hour 7 and 8 of 30.

During these two hours, all I have done was worked on my spreadsheet. I've been trying to do countif data for all of my questions, and sadly, I just got up to question 5. I need to speed up, because I am falling behind my schedule. Also, my test buddy has pointed out that in my spreadsheet, some parents have submitted too many answers for one question - therefore it has messed up my data and now my graphs for this data are not accurate enough. I have decided to redo my questionnaire results, this time informing parents about selecting only FIVE options for question about their child's five favourite activities (looks like some parents missed out the FIVE part of the question, but it is human error, unfortunately.)

Hour 6 of 30.

Today, we started to put our results of our questionnaire into the spreadsheet. It is quite tricky and time consuming because you have to go through every questionnaire and copy results from it onto the spreadsheet. I am also falling behind on my plan, as today, I should've done the database work, however, I'm still on my spreadsheet. I need to find a way to speed up.

Hour 5 of 30.

Today, we looked at spreadsheet formulas of COUNTA and COUNTIF, exploring what they are and how they work. We also tested them on our little spreadsheets, that actually, have nothing to do with out project, yet still is useful, since most likely, we will use it our own spreadsheets for the questionnaire results.

Hour 4 of 30

Today, I had to redo my questionnaire because it reset it self from my GoogleDocs, for which I wasn't happy about. But I managed to finish all of it, so now it's ready for testing and answering. My test buddy, if you're reading this... please can you test my questionnaire:

Also, I still need to speed up on my project - I should be doing the spreadsheet by the beginning of November. I'll need to catch up during the half-term.

Monday, 19 October 2009

Hour 3 of 30

Today, I created the questionnaire about internet usage for my project. I was supposed to do that last lesson, so I am kind of falling behind the schedule - I need to speed up while working and change my plan in order to complete the project on time.

Journal.

Right buddies. I have SPB to do. I have to solve it. By the end of 30 hours of work (well obviously not in one go... DUH!). Well, as I was saying, I will write here my journal for this project. I hope you enjoy my failings. (:
